I have been watching the events of the past month unfold as you have, both in the presidential race, and with the financial crisis.
What is going on in our country in regards to the financial markets is a judgment of God because of our arrogance, greed, sexual immorality, and our turning away from seeking him. He has been very patient with us, giving us ample time for repentance. God’s motivation in this judgment is not evil though, it is out of love. During this crisis He is willing that we will turn from our ways, repent, and once again restore our relationship and dedication to Him.
If you don’t believe me, then you should read a book by David Wilkerson called “America’s Last Call: On the Brink of a Financial Holocaust”. He wrote this book in 1997, at a time of great prosperity in this country. This book outlines what lies ahead for our nation in striking detail. His basis for these predictions is solely founded on what the Bible tells us that God did to other nations in the past who turned away from Him.
Neither one of the presidential candidates have the answer. Let us turn our focus away from them. Our only hope is that we turn from our ways and put our trust and focus in Jesus Christ. I am not saying that he will provide a way for you not to suffer in the coming times. I am only saying that He is the only solid rock we can stand on when everything around us is crumbling.
Luk 6:47-48
“Whoever comes to Me (Jesus), and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock”
I implore you to turn to Jesus today. In the coming days, no matter how dark they may get, we need to hear Jesus’s sayings and do them:
Luke 6:27
“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you.To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise.”
